Will it fit your machine?

Sage and Breville use two portafilter sizes. Everything we sell is 54mm. Here is how to be certain before you buy.

These machines take 54mm, everything here fits

Barista Express · Barista Express Impress · Barista Pro · Barista Touch · Infuser · Duo Temp Pro · Bambino · Bambino Plus

If your machine is on this list, every product on this site fits it.

These machines take 58mm, nothing here fits

Sage Dual Boiler · Oracle · Oracle Touch · Oracle Jet

Those are the commercial standard. A 54mm portafilter will not seat in them, and we would rather say so now than take your money.

Not sure? Measure it in ten seconds

Lift the basket out of the portafilter that came with your machine and measure straight across the top rim. Between 53mm and 54mm means this is your size. Around 58mm means it is not.

Still unsure, tell us the model and we will answer the same working day. If we get it wrong, the return is free.

Placing the 53.5mm puck screen on the tamped coffee bed

Why it matters

Two parts, one method

A bottomless portafilter removes the spouts, so the underside of the basket is visible from the first drip. Channelling, an uneven tamp, a dose that is off: it all shows instead of hiding inside a stainless spout.

A puck screen removes the most common cause. It spreads the water coming off the shower screen before it reaches the coffee, and it lifts out with the spent puck so the group head stays clean.

Used together, one of the usual faults is gone before you start adjusting the grinder.
